A Unique Thriller with Pacing Issues
Kooran is a one-of-a-kind thriller about a mother dog seeking justice for her killed puppy with the help of a once-famous lawyer, Dharmaraj. The film stands out for its creative premise and emotional depth, as it explores themes of justice and empathy through an unusual bond between the dog and the lawyer. The story raises intriguing questions about how a dog could testify in court, and the answers unfold in clever and surprising ways, maintaining audience engagement.
However, the film struggles with a slow pace and some implausible sequences that weaken the tension. Clues often appear too conveniently, and some scenes, such as Dharmaraj effortlessly chasing a car, feel unrealistic. Despite these flaws, the emotional connection to the dog, enhanced by a moving soundtrack, is the film’s true strength. The performances, especially by SA Chandrasekaran as Dharmaraj, are solid, but it’s the dog who steals the show.
Verdict:
Kooran is a unique thriller with a heart, but its pacing and some unrealistic moments hold it back from being truly gripping. It’s a touching and thought-provoking film for those who enjoy unconventional stories.
