“A promising concept dragged down by punchlines that never land and meta-humor that quickly overstays its welcome.”
Devil’s Double Next Level follows Kissa 47 (Santhanam), a film reviewer who gets trapped inside a movie directed by the vengeful Hitchcock Irudhayaraj (Selvaraghavan). While the premise is creatively meta, the execution falls flat. The film tries to be clever with constant self-references and satire but ends up feeling repetitive and overindulgent.
Comedy, the core selling point, is surprisingly weak. Santhanam’s usual charm is dulled by stale jokes and overused slang. Only Mottai Rajendran and Gautham Menon offer brief comedic relief. Visually, the film is imaginative, but the narrative lacks cohesion and the humor rarely lands.
Final Verdict:
Trapped in a movie, and so are we—with no escape from flat jokes and forced meta twists.
