Yamakaathaghi Movie Review

A Ghostly Tale That Fails to Haunt

Verdict: “More weeping than wonder—Yamakaathaghi lingers, but not in the way it intends.”

⭐ Rating: 2.5/5

Yamakaathaghi follows Leela (Roopa Koduvayur), an asthmatic young woman whose spirit refuses to leave after her tragic death, forcing her family to confront hidden truths. While the premise holds promise, the film struggles with predictable storytelling, underdeveloped characters, and a lackluster supernatural element.

Roopa Koduvayur delivers a decent performance, but the script limits her depth. Only Geetha Kailasam manages to make a strong impact. The cinematography and production design feel uninspired, making the narrative visually stagnant. Themes of caste, honor, and gender oppression are explored but lack originality or fresh perspective.

Despite a brief runtime, Yamakaathaghi fails to make a lasting impression, recycling familiar tropes without adding new depth.
