Vidaamuyarchi – A Bold Yet Inconsistent Thriller
Magizh Thirumeni’s Vidaamuyarchi is a slow-burn thriller set against the striking landscapes of Azerbaijan. The film follows Arjun (Ajith Kumar), whose crumbling 12-year marriage takes an unexpected turn when his estranged wife Kayal (Trisha) is kidnapped during a road trip.
Ajith delivers a refreshing, vulnerable performance, breaking away from his usual mass-hero persona. The cinematography by Om Prakash is a standout, giving the film a western-inspired aesthetic. However, Arjun’s character development feels uneven, and the rushed second half dampens the tension. Anirudh’s background score supports the narrative but lacks his usual impact.
⭐ Verdict: Stylish and suspenseful, but lacks emotional depth.
