Plot: Guna (Aruldoss) adopts Saala (Dheeran), who grows up determined to reclaim the Parvathy Bar, previously lost to Thangadurai (Charles Vinoth). Saala’s mission becomes complicated when he meets and falls for Punitha (Reshma Venkatesh), an activist against alcohol. The conflict escalates as Thangadurai engages in illegal activities and bids to reopen the bar.
Review: Saala is a compelling debut by SD Manipaul, tackling the issues of liquor consumption with a mix of drama and social commentary. Reshma Venkatesh shines in her debut, and Dheeran fits his role well, especially in action scenes. However, the screenplay is occasionally disjointed and some violence is excessive.
Verdict: A heartfelt and socially relevant film with strong performances, despite some pacing issues and graphic content.
