Raayan, directed by and starring Dhanush, revolves around a family struggling with loss and turmoil. The story follows Raayan as he manages his siblings after their parents vanish and deals with the fallout of his brother Muthu’s alcoholism. The film’s second half becomes a standard revenge saga.

Dhanush excels as Raayan, delivering a compelling and restrained performance. Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan also stand out, with Dushara Vijayan impressing in her role. However, Aparna Balamurali’s part feels underused.
